Seaside Blues

from Mind The Noise by Craic Attics

/

about

Date Recorded: September 4, 2011
Order in which song was made for project: 33 of 42
Instruments Played: Garrahand recorded using Loop Pedal, Rainmaker, Thunder Maker, Croaking Toad

How they made it: This was Michael's attempt at making a "peaceful, nature interlude.” Since the Garrahand has a ¼ inch line out, it was plugged into the loop pedal and two rhythms were played over each other. Initially it was recorded only using the Garrahand and was a peaceful break in the album before things get "dark." Water from a Mexican Rainmaker was added because the Garrahand loop sounded like someone sitting lonesome the beach with an instrument. Naturally, Michael decided to keep up with the rain / water theme by adding a Croaking Toad from Malaysia, and a “Thunder Maker” handdrum from Argentina to forewarn the ominous sounds to come.

Origin of song title: Like stated earlier, the Garrahand loop sounded like someone sitting lonesome the beach with an instrument. Michael was unsure whether there are toads around ANY sea, but liked the name of “Seaside Blues” too much to not call it that.
