Straight Hip-Hop

from Mind The Noise by Craic Attics

/

about

Date Recorded: September 4, 2011
Order in which song was made for project: 35 of 42
Instruments Played: Harmonica and Melodica recorder into a loop pedal, Scratches by Danny

How they made it: Taken from a loop Michael made with a harmonica, vocals, recorders, and melodica, although when chopped up, only a blend of the harmonica and melodica could be heard. This was the last song made on September 4, 2011- arguably the most aggravating recording session of the whole album. After a “less than desirable” evening after returning from Switzerland, Michael played a god awful loop he made months prior just for S&G. Unexpectedly, Danny said, “I could probably make something out of that” and proceeded to cut the beat up to load into the MPC. If you could hear the before & after you would be amazed.

Origin of song title: Called “Straight Hip-Hop” simply because it sounds straight up like a hip-hop track. For Michael, it conjures up images of a Brooklyn hip-hop video, images of the subway (an absolute must), and graffiti- all to a Primo beat, of course.
