about

“Trash the Universe” is 30 minutes of highlights captured during a 5 hour recording session on a spring day in Philadelphia. The session was then meticulously cut up and spliced together months later in Maine. Much like previous albums, it is an uninterrupted flow of unconventional sounds with dynamics ranging high to low. This, however, is perhaps their artsiest release to date. For example, take the pair of suites that stitch together various ramblings to form sound collages likely heard in experimental arthouse films. These collages are trippy and cinematic, and their unpredictable changes makes it a very active listening experience.

"TTU" is a raw and expressive tour de force destined to provoke deep thoughts and complex emotions. The stream of consciousness playing is passionate and pensive; not exactly “easy listening.” Anger and frustration seep through in tracks like 'Twisted Metal'- which sounds like Thelonious Monk behind a war tank- and 'Release the Hounds,' with its crunchy tremolo feedback barking through the speakers. Other fierce tracks include 'Swordfire,' with its maniacal, searing tone reminiscent of a blacksmith welding metal, and 'Bowser’s Blowout' which conjures up images of fire and brimstone.

Despite the album's thick textures, there are zero overdubs and 100% of the sound is coming from a live guitar and pedal sorcery. This album is meant to be played in one sitting and LOUD.
